Fiji

Fiji, for Exclusive Villa Collection, is private-island living in the South Pacific: coral lagoons, volcanic green, and hospitality that still feels personal rather than performative. We open the country through LAUCALA: a 3,015-acre private island with just twenty-four villas, each with its own pool, where days follow the guest’s rhythm instead of a resort timetable.

We write Fiji for travelers who arrive by private jet to an island airstrip or connect via Nadi aboard AIR LAUCALA, and who want farm-to-table dining drawn from the island’s own 240-acre farm.

In the Kadavu group, Kokomo Private Island sets twenty-one beachfront villas and five hilltop Residences on the edge of the Great Astrolabe Reef, 45 to 60 minutes from Nadi by the island’s own seaplanes and helicopter: the week we write for divers, snorkellers and families.

Between the Mamanuca and Yasawa Islands, VOMO Island Fiji keeps just 41 villas and residences on an 87 hectare private island with white sand beaches on both sides, 15 minutes by helicopter from Nadi: the week we write for families and multi generational groups.

LAUCALA belongs to our Private Islands collection and Kokomo to Island Sanctuaries. See our LAUCALA Island guide and our Kadavu guide for the Great Astrolabe Reef.

Why visit

A reason to make the journey.

  • A true private island LAUCALA’s 3,015 acres and twenty-four pool villas keep Fiji about space and personal hospitality, not a crowded resort plaza.
  • Farm-to-table at island scale A 240-acre on-island farm supplies restaurants and villas with a degree of self-sufficiency rarely found in luxury hospitality.
  • Arrival that stays discreet Private airstrip for mid-size jets, or Nadi with AIR LAUCALA and a private lounge, arranged as one plan.

When and how

Light, season, and the arrival

Each season keeps its own calendar. We plan the transfer around it.

Best time to visit

When the light is right

May to October brings the drier, trade-wind months (roughly 24 to 30°C / 75 to 86°F). November to April is warmer and lusher (roughly 26 to 32°C / 79 to 90°F) with brief tropical showers.

Seasonality

When to go

Dry season (May to October) and warmer tropical months (November to April) both reward island weeks. Holiday weeks and the reopening season are best reserved early.

Airport / logistics

Arriving without hurry

International gateways into Nadi include Los Angeles, San Francisco, Vancouver, Sydney, Auckland, Singapore, and Hong Kong. Private-jet arrivals to the island airstrip (1,141 m / 3,743 ft) can clear customs, immigration and quarantine in advance on request.

Month by month

The best months for Fiji

  • Peak
  • Quiet
  • Rainfall

Seasons follow the notes above. Average daily high and monthly rainfall for 2015 to 2024 from ERA5 reanalysis, via Open-Meteo.

Luxury experiences

Hours we would keep

  • Championship golf without tee times David McLay Kidd’s 18-hole course between volcanic terrain and the South Pacific, play when the moment feels right.
  • Lagoon & land recreation Diving, sailing, horseback riding, tennis, pickleball, and farm tours, arranged with flexibility rather than a fixed activity desk.
  • Villa dining anywhere Hilltop, beach, yacht, or under the stars: culinary moments arranged privately.
