Tokyo

Tokyo is megacity energy held at a civilized distance: avenues below, spa water above, and a pace that can still feel like a house rather than a lobby machine. Our house in Tokyo is Aman Tokyo: suite living with city horizon light, café hours that behave like a quiet terrace, and spa floors that make a dense itinerary sustainable.

We do not pretend Tokyo is “slow” by default; we design the week so the house absorbs the city instead of amplifying it. Pair cleanly with Aman Kyoto for forest temple calm or Amanemu for onsen valley heat when Japan should hold more than one register. Hold suite categories early around sakura, Golden Week, and year-end when inventory thins.

Otemachi is the city’s business heart, between Tokyo Station and the Imperial Palace, and that position is the house’s advantage: Shinkansen platforms a short walk away, the palace moat for an early walk, and Ginza, Marunouchi and the museums within easy reach by car.

Aman Tokyo suits travelers arriving long-haul who need suite-scale recovery, couples and small parties using the capital as a precise base, and anyone opening a Japan circuit before Kyoto or Ise-Shima. Suites run from the Tokyo Suites of about 77 m² to the Aman Suites of about 157 m², with deep furo baths throughout. See our Aman Tokyo page, and the Japan Rituals collection, which continues to Aman Kyoto and Amanemu.

Why visit

A reason to make the journey.

  • Palace gardens as the horizon Aman Tokyo looks onto the Imperial Palace Gardens and, on clear days, Mt Fuji. The city stays present; the view stays composed.
  • Urban Aman, not a compromise brand Japan’s first Aman urban hotel keeps suite scale, furo baths, and a nearly thirty-metre lobby. We book the stay when Tokyo is the point of the week.
  • A natural hinge to Kyoto or Ise-Shima Bullet trains and advisors make Tokyo the natural arrival before Aman Kyoto or Amanemu. We plan the stays, not just the flights.

When and how

Light, season, and the arrival

Each season keeps its own calendar. We plan the transfer around it.

Best time to visit

When the light is right

Late March and early April bring cherry blossom along the palace moat and in the parks, and November the autumn maples. Summer is hot and humid, with the rainy season through June and into July, so suite comfort and spa hours matter.

Seasonality

When to go

Golden Week and New Year fill first. Spa and dining are best reserved before holiday peaks. Winter is often clear and dry, the best season for walking the city and for views of Mount Fuji from the upper floors.

Airport / logistics

Arriving without hurry

Fly Haneda (HND, ~40 min) or Narita (NRT, ~60 min). The Otemachi Tower connects to Otemachi subway; Tokyo Station is walking distance for Shinkansen. Private aviation and chauffeur transfers arranged with the stay.

Month by month

The best months for Tokyo

  • Peak
  • Shoulder
  • Quiet
  • Rainfall

Luxury experiences

Hours we would keep

  • Imperial Palace edge walks Morning circuits along the palace moat before the city fully wakes: paced with the suite, not a tour-bus schedule.
  • Ginza and gallery hours Shopping and gallery time held with the same discretion as the room.
  • Onward to Kyoto or the coast Shinkansen to Kyoto for Aman Kyoto, or continue toward Ise-Shima for Amanemu’s onsen week. Your advisor builds the hinge.
