Vietnam

Vietnam is a long country, and we begin it by the sea. On the south-central coast, granite headlands fold around sheltered bays, forested mountains come down to the sand, and the reefs offshore are among the finest in the region. Inland and along the shore lie the Cham towers of Po Nagar, a sacred site since the seventh century, the pagodas and markets of Nha Trang, and, four hours up into the hills, the pine-wooded highland town of Da Lat.

In Khanh Hoa, across the water from Nha Trang, Six Senses Ninh Van Bay holds a bay of its own on the Heo Peninsula, reached only by boat: sixty-two villas, each with its own pool, on the beach, at the water’s edge, among the boulders and on the hillside, with a hilltop spa and a house reef at the door. We open it through Ninh Van Bay.

Further south in Ninh Thuan, Amanoi keeps clifftop and beach pavilions above Vinh Hy Bay, inside the Nui Chua UNESCO biosphere, for weeks that want national park coast, private sand and villa pools above the marine reserve.

Vietnam sits within our Southeast Asia guide, which adds the temples of Siem Reap and Luang Prabang, Phuket and Pamalican to the same journey.
