The Experience

How the days feel

LAUCALA sits on a 3,015-acre private island in Fiji: a way of living shaped by nature, space, and an intuitive sense of ease rather than a crowded resort plaza. With just twenty-four secluded villas, each with its own private pool, the island feels less like a hotel and more like a private world: generous, unhurried, and entirely personal. Exclusive Villa Collection arranges the stay by hand for travelers who want Fijian hospitality that is warm and instinctive, days without timetable pressure, and evenings that can unfold on a hilltop, a beach, a yacht, or beneath the stars.

The villa programme is clear: Plateau villas high on Nawi Hill; Plantation villas opening onto the beach; Seagrass villas along Seagrass Bay; and two signature houses, Udu on a rocky peninsula and Wai floating above the lagoon. Dining follows a farm-to-table philosophy from the island’s own 240-acre farm; wellness is unhurried restoration; recreation spans land, water, and culture; and golf is an 18-hole, par-72 championship course by David McLay Kidd, played without set tee times.

Arrival is either direct to LAUCALA’s private airstrip or via Nadi International with a private lounge and AIR LAUCALA continuation. Your advisor sequences air with the villa hold and confirms availability with LAUCALA for your dates. Categories and pricing are quoted privately. Why EVC loves it

Why we would send you here

  • A private island, not a village Three thousand acres and only twenty-four villas keep the week about your pool, your horizon, and a Tau butler when requested, not a shared plaza timetable.
  • Villa programme with real geography Plateau for ocean-sweeping height, Plantation and Seagrass for beachfront living, Udu for peninsula intimacy, Wai for overwater lagoon living.
  • Farm as the kitchen’s backbone A 240-acre on-island farm supplies organic produce, livestock, and in-house preparation rarely matched in luxury hospitality; coconut groves define landscape and cuisine alike.
  • Golf without the queue David McLay Kidd’s championship course between volcanic terrain, coconut plantations, and the South Pacific: no set tee times, PGA support, privacy as the default.
  • Arranged as one Fiji plan Private airstrip or Nadi + AIR LAUCALA, villa category, dietary notes, spa, and celebration dining are sequenced together. Exclusive Villa Collection confirms availability personally with LAUCALA for your dates.

Inside the stay

The house, in notes

Where you sleep, what you eat, and how you arrive: the essentials, in brief.

Rooms / Suites / Villas

Where you stay

Twenty-four villas of one, two and three bedrooms, each with its own private pool and a dedicated golf cart. Plateau Villas sit high on Nawi Hill for the horizon; Plantation Villas open onto the beach; Seagrass Villas keep to the quiet of Seagrass Bay. Two signatures stand apart: Udu, a peninsula hideaway for two, and Wai, an overwater villa on the lagoon.

Dining

The table

Dining follows the day rather than a fixed schedule: hilltop fine dining, beachfront gatherings, Asian-inspired tasting menus, sunset cocktails and private villa dining. Menus draw from LAUCALA’s farms, gardens and waters, and tables can be set almost anywhere on the island.

Spa & Wellness

Quiet hours

The Spa at LAUCALA is quiet restoration immersed in nature: unhurried, personal, paced to the guest rather than a prescribed ritual menu. A fully equipped fitness center with personal training on request completes the picture.

Beach / Pool

Water, when it is the point

Each of the twenty-four villas has its own private pool; Plantation and Seagrass open to beach and bay; Udu holds a private cove; Wai offers a signature saltwater pool and jetty. Swimming culture is villa-led, not a shared resort deck hour. Recreation across lagoon and ocean (snorkeling, diving, sailing, surfing, fishing) is arranged with flexibility.

Who it is best for

Who feels at home here

Travelers seeking a true private-island week rather than a resort village; couples in one-bedroom Plateau, Plantation, Seagrass, or Udu; families and friends in two- and three-bedroom houses or Wai; golfers who want championship play without tee-time theater; households who value farm-to-table depth and Fijian hospitality that anticipates quietly.

Getting there

The arrival is part of the stay

LAUCALA’s private airstrip (1,141 m / 3,743 ft) takes mid-size business jets and turboprops, with customs, immigration and quarantine handled in advance on request. From Nadi (NAN), guests continue aboard AIR LAUCALA, about fifty minutes when scheduled.

Seasonality

When the house is open

May to October: dry, sun-drenched months with refreshing trade winds, roughly 24 to 30°C (75 to 86°F). November to April: warmer tropical season, roughly 26 to 32°C (79 to 90°F), brief showers, especially lush surroundings.
