The house
A first reading of the stay: rooms, light, and the quiet between them. Each still is a note, not a catalogue.
The Experience
Sossusvlei Desert Lodge is andBeyond’s private-reserve address in Namibia’s Namib Desert: glass, stone, and dune light set against the escarpment near the Sossusvlei corridor and the NamibRand Nature Reserve. Exclusive Villa Collection arranges the stay by hand for travelers who want red-dune mornings, suite verandas that face open desert, and nights dark enough that the Milky Way is part of the reason to come.
Suites open wide to the landscape: glass-fronted living, private outdoor space, plunge pools, and skylights that pull the night indoors. The Star Dune Suite gathers families or friends travelling together without losing the same desert orientation. Days move between guided excursions into the classic Sossusvlei dune sea and Living Dunes nature drives on the private reserve; evenings return to the lodge observatory and telescope when an astronomer is on site. Confirm if guided stargazing is essential to the week.
Arrival is typically by light aircraft into the lodge airstrip corridor, then a short transfer arranged with the property. Your advisor sequences air with the suite hold and confirms availability directly with andBeyond. Suite category and pricing are quoted for your dates. Why EVC loves it
Inside the stay
Where you sleep, what you eat, and how you arrive: the essentials, in brief.
Rooms / Suites / Villas
Glass-fronted desert suites on a private Namib reserve, each with private outdoor living, a plunge pool and skylights that keep the night in the room; the Star Dune Suite suits families or friends.
Dining
Lodge dining faces the desert; suite-deck breakfasts and private dune dinners can be arranged. Dietary and celebration notes are shared with the lodge ahead of arrival.
Spa & Wellness
Spa treatments are available at the lodge for recovery after dune mornings and long light.
Beach / Pool
Private suite plunge pools and terrace living against open desert: swimming as desert pause between excursions, not a resort pool deck. The landscape remains the room.
Who it is best for
Travelers seeking Namibia’s Sossusvlei and Namib Desert with private-reserve immersion; couples and small families who want suite-scale desert living and dark-sky nights; itineraries that arrive by light aircraft and treat the lodge as the stay itself, not a single dune stopover.
Getting there
International arrival is typically into Windhoek (Hosea Kutako), then light aircraft toward the Sossusvlei / NamibRand airstrip corridor with a short lodge transfer. Self-drive from the Sesriem area is possible on some plans but is not the default luxury sequence.
Seasonality
May through October is the classic cooler, clearer window for dune excursions and night skies. Summer heat and occasional rain (roughly November to April) can reshape dune access and flying. Observatory evenings may be schedule-dependent.
