Gran sogno means “great dream,” and the name suits the house. Villa Gran Sogno stands just outside Castellina in Chianti, in the heart of the Chianti Classico country between Florence and Siena, with vineyards, olive groves and rolling hills on every side. Inside, it keeps the bones of old Tuscany: rough stone walls, timber beams, terracotta floors and a living room beneath a vaulted brick ceiling, warmed by deep velvet sofas, painted murals and antique wood.
There are only five bedrooms, each with a king bed and a private bathroom, so the villa never holds more than ten guests, and it is for adults only. The scale is that of a private home, and so is the welcome. Connie and Mauro, the owners, are on the property through the primary season, and their hospitality sets the tone of every stay. The beds are a point of pride: Hypnos mattresses dressed in luxury linens and pillows, for the kind of sleep guests write home about.
Days find their own pace. A morning swim, then lunch beside the pool; an afternoon in a hill village or a Chianti Classico cellar; a cooking class with the in-house chef that turns into dinner under the stars; a last glass on the terrace as the light leaves the vines. More than a place to stay, the villa is meant to feel like your own home in Tuscany.
Your Exclusive Villa Collection advisor arranges the stay directly with the house, for two or for a party taking all five rooms, and shapes the private dinners, classes and wine days around the week you want.
